counter striker source servers

Double check that you dont have any weird filters set and that youre in the Online tab rather than favorites/lan/friends etc.

Have you played on this installation before or is this the first time youve played?

It says "Could not contact master game server to retrieve list"

This is the first time, i have never even been in game yet.

Make sure your internet connection is working...but if you postedthat i assume it is ;)

Since its your first time playing, it's probably being blocked by a firewall. Makesure that when the windows firewall pops up, you allow CSS to connect to the internet. Also, if you have another firewall, make sure thats allowing it. If youre still having issues, disable the firefall temporarily to see if that fixes it (if that does it go in and figure out why the firewall is blocking it).
 
I just turned the firewall off and tried to find one, and nothing. Why the hell don't things work when they are supposed to.
 
This may be a silly question but did you push the connect button,if you did i'm sorry i put this post up.
 
The connect button is for when you actually find a server, you click onto that server and hit connect to connect to that server...understand?
 
Thats really weird. Uh...its a pain in the butt but did you try reinstalling counterstrike?

Gotta say im surprised it wasnt a firewall issue.
 
Just saw you're runnng windows 7. Maybe that's got something to do with it. Idk I'm on 7 too but haven't played css (tf2 didn't have a problem). I'm not on my computer right now but I'll look into it possibly tomorrow (and if no one posts by then I'll find an ip then too)

Is this the only game having a problem? Do you have another source game you could try to see if it's an issue with the source engine or just css?

yeah this is the only game im having problems with.
 
im having serious issues with my css too now that i got 64bit vista... different issues though. i dont think it does to well on new OS's. It only officially supports 32bit vista/xp.
