You want a different motherboard but you want to keep the processor you already have?

You need to know what processor you have-- you appear to have an AMD Athlon or Sempron, but you need to know which socket your processor requires.

Once you know which socket, you can shop for motherboards supporting that socket.

yea thats the jist i pick up the wrong graphicks card but as the mother board was next on the upgrade list i decided to just upgrade it early

this is all i know about mine and i dont realy understand it

It doesent matter what it supports, he wants a new Mobo, the questions now are 1.Budget 2. Socket (if he wants a new CPU) and 3. Any size limitations

I was thinking about the keep cpu and got mixed up and idk really.

There is no point in wasting money on that old of a system and a motherboard for that will be used, save up for a mobo and cpu and you'll be a lot happier.

im england wich is only bout £300 and seam to be able to order online yea 100 but dads got a fair bit and will buy the mobo if i can get a cpu

Nowhere over there seems to carry that mobo, and so can you talk to him and get a set budget or at least ball-park it. If you feal the need to snoop around, here's some of the best sites over there

Also it would be helpful to know all the parts you plan to re-use in this new computer and anything else you might need, cuz with a new operating system you need a new copy of windows, also you will need new ram, there are many things that will also have to be ordered.
