cpu and ram

Hi,

I have overclocked my processor Q8200 to 3ghz, I adjusted my ram to 860 mhz is it better doing this then let it by default so going to 960mhz? is there gonna be a performance difference between these 2 mhz setting?

thank you for your answer!

RAM really doesn't affect your performance as much as people tend to realize. If you want to squeeze every last bit of performance out of your computer (and it's stable :P), than go with the faster setting. Otherwise, stick with the other. You probably won't notice any real difference under normal usage either way.

There is a definite difference when going from 800mhz to 900mhz, when you have 2gb or less. with 4gb and above, the only place you will notice the difference is in benchmark scores (like 3dmark06)

i'd have to disagree. i think the performance gain, if any, from 800 to 900mhz will be very minimal

Search around for some benchmarks. RAM speeds really don't play that big of a roll in computer speeds. As I mentioned in a post yesterday, even changes such as single and dual channel only increase performance around 10% at the most. I'm sure a difference in 100MHz for the RAM won't affect the performance much differently.
