CPU can't handle RAM

Hey there,

I have a problem with my CPU and RAM.
I have an Intel Core i5 650 @ 3.20GHz and 8GB RAM and everything works just fine. However, when I start rendering, it only uses 2GB RAM and then the cpu usage is at 100%
I use Adobe Premiere Pro. When the files are in the Media Encoder, it already starts using 2GB RAM but the cpu just hangs around 14% and once I start rendering, the RAM usage stays the same but the cpu goes up to 100%
In the options of Media Encoder I set ''reserved for other applications'' to 1,5 so Media Encoder should use 6,5 but it uses 2..

Does this just mean that an i5 and 8GB RAM don't balance together? Or is there something wrong with my CPU?

It's something wrong with your computer settings, try just removing that reservation, 8gb's os plenty for anything, and stuff in the background will be fine.

it might not necessarily be your cpu, it could also be the OS fault, or the ram itself being bad, so i would check first that's properly installed, after that i would check if your system OS is 32 bits or 64 bits, cuz if it's the first one, you'll only see about 3.5 gb out of 8 thanks to windows.

My system is 64bit ;)
