CPU Socket Type Socket T (LGA 775) CPU Type Intel Pentium D/Pentium 4 HT/Celeron D
would that support some cheap pentium 4 that doesn't use HT technology... cus he wants to get his PC with a good mobo then upgrade to a conroe when it comes out...
very noobish question of mine...

A pentium 4 will work, as long as its the right socket.

However a Conroe wont work in that motherboard since it has an older chipset.

Possibly. I hope that they release a BIOS update for the nForce 4 mobos, since thats the same board I have. I have heard rumors that the nForce 4 will be updated, not sure as of yet.

does anyone know when we will find out if it will work or not?

and what is a board that will for sure support the conroe
(preferably supports up to 8gb DDR2 ram and is not over $200 and that can run a celeron D until the conroe comes out)

I dont think there is any yet that are official confirmed to run conroe yet, so we can only wait and see.

No boards will run conroe curently, in fact, no curent chipsets do, at least without reworking some other components.

The Conroe system was based on an Intel "BadAxe" 975X motherboard modified to supply less voltage

Damn, it looks doubtfull then...... Ah well, ill need a new Big Typhoon when I get it since all the stickyness is on it.

so baisically it is LGA775 so there wont be a socket change but the chipsets wont support it, so it will be a change in the chipsets?

Chipsets and voltage regulation, basicly.
