cpu cooler opinion

right now i have the asus silent knight ii cpu cooler and cpu temps are right around 28c, i was thinking of getting the tuniq cooler and was wondering if i would get better temps or the same
 
'if its not broke dont fix it' unless its too loud for you, i wouldnt bother 28C is pretty awesome for a cpu of this time, tho no idea what cpu you are running...

right now i am running the intel wolfdale e8400 stock not overclocked and it's not loud or nothing just wondering if it would give me lower temps
 
28C sounds fairly close to ambient temperature, so im not sure if you would get much more under that, id just stick with what you have, if anything just keeping it clean of dust, but 28C hell..thats the lowest i can get, and thats after leaving the computer sitting doing nothing, otherwise its around 30-35C which is pretty darn acceptable to me...

the shape of the tuniq looks like it has more surface area than the asus sink, so it may cool better...as well as being possibly quieter, and offering the option of changing the fan a tad bit easier... might be worth a shot if you got money laying around
 
If you want to go for extreme overclocking then only buy a new HSF. and if you dont want to overclock or only some minor overclock then stick with your present cooler
 
If those temps are correct,there realy isnt any point in upgrading...i also had the asus silent knight ii but had had mine for ages and was not performing so good anymore (40c idle temps :o ) and switched it out for a Tuniq Tower 120 Extreme....its much better,28-32c idle temps across all four cores and much more quiet.
 
The intel rated spec is 72.4°C max.....now this temp is the actual CPU temp, not the core temp....core temp runs hotter. And also that spec is the max sustained temperature for maximum longevity.
Most likely your monitoring software detects the core temperature, so you are really probably about 1/3 of the maximum rated temperature for that chip. I think your cooler is just fine there ;)
 
Solving High Temperature CPU

Wrong....the spec intel gives is the max sustained temperature for a normal lifespan. When you exceed this temperature THEN you will have those issues.

It's a mute point, his cpu is 28 degrees which is ridiculously cool for a CPU, as someone else mentioned thats pretty much ambient temp.
