CPU Cooler

I currently have a stock CPU cooler for my AMD Phenom 9550 X4 2.2GHZ.

The fan on top of the heatsink is rather noisey and i was considering replacing it.

Should i replace the entire cooler or just the fan?

Would it be ok to use a normal an such as a notua to put on the heatsink?

If you are talking about getting a new cooler then the heatsink is like built in. If you are talking about the aluminium fins underneath the fan then that is connected to the fan and i wouldn't try taking the two apart. Just get a new high performance cooler as these keep the CPU cool without being too noisy. I suggest an Artic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro as this is a good performance CPU cooler and its reasonably priced

Woa thats a lot to spend on a CPU cooler in that case ill say the Scythe Infinity is probably the best and thats about 30 quid for AM2+
