CPU Cooler

well... I might have answered my own question... one is 3-pin power and one is 4-pin and my mobo has 3-pin so if I want either I have to get the one with 3-pin power right?

Depends what mobo you have. If you have an 4 pin the 3 or four will work. If you have 3pin, 3 pin only. Some people say that the 4th pin is the speed control, and people who plugged the 4 pin into an 3pin had problems with the cooler running at half speed.

does anyone have pics of that installed or in the process of installing?

very easy to install, the CNPS9700 comes with Zalmans thermal grease which has been rated as being as good as AS5, but easier to apply though as you will see if you buy it.

I've installed this onto and AM2 board and then onto a 775 board.

On Am2 its a simple as one cllip which connects on both sides of the mount surrounding the cpu.

For the 775 you need to add the mount and then screw the cooler onto that.

Both took all of about 5 minutes to install

I see another difference. One is full copper and the second is copper & aluminum... now the 2nd one's price has risen. Copper takes in heat easily, but has an harder time disappiating it than aluminum.
