Hmmm, to begin with what are your intensions for the computer - max overclocking, replace stock cooling, just want to get a cooler CPU, etc?

Zalman CNPS9500 LED CPU Cooler
I'm a bit skeptical/confused/interested in the whole 3 heat pipes acting as up to 6 heat pipes deal. The configuration doesn't seem right... guess I'll have to check out the patent office website. Looks like it should work well but on the expensive side.

Thermalright XP-120 CPU Cooler
A good cooler but I always lean towards copper for heat sinks.

Zalman FATAL1TY FS-C77 CPU Cooler
Doesn't look like anything too special for the price. Most likely paying for the name.

Thermaltake Big Typhoon 4 in 1 Heatpipe Cooler (CL-P0114)
Pretty heavy and high which will cause a bit of torque on the mobo. Also aluminum fins. Decent price though.

AeroCool GT1000 Gold Plated Cooler
Is corrosion/oxidation really a problem for heat sinks (the reason for the gold plating)? I mean unless your using it at really high temps or using it in an ammonia rich environment (in which case you might be having some breathing problems of your own :)) that shouldn't be a problem. Doesn't look like anything special configuration-wise.

In conclusion, Xoxide's descriptions really annoy me and you should really read all the specs and features descriptions with skepticism. As for which of those is best, I would pick either the XP-120 (or XP-90c) or if money is no issue then try out the CNPS9500

I think the 3 heatpipes act as 6 is marketing words for the heatpipes are connected in 2 spots instead of just 1.
The XP120 might not be copper but it's still quite a good cooler, just be sure you have the room to mount it, it is huge.
The fatal1ty cooler is the standard zalman design with a fatal1ty sticker on the fan, don't buy it. The other zalman models will work just as well.
From what I've read the Big Typhoon is very good.
I agree completely with Yeti on the gold plated cooler. The gold is just a reason to charge more.
 
intentions would be for the whole max overclocking without going to water. so i think ill use the first one as pricing isnt too much of an issue.

That's where the confusion is - a normal (as in every one that I've seen) heat pipe requires a hot end and a cold end in order to drive the fluid flow. These heat pipes have two hot ends

Yeah you can't really go wrong with the XP-120, throw a good high CFM 120 mm fan on there and it should keep you nice and cool.

The ends are semi variable, it should work the same than standard setups (maybe better because the fluid will travel around to the bottom through cool instead of going back through the hot).
