Recently I've been reading info on cpus, one thing im still confused about is about the cores (Barcelona, Manila, Prescott, etc..) can anyone explain to me what their purpose is and how do I know which one is good or bad

"Core" actually means a processor (so a dual-core CPU actully comes with two processors). The codename is just that, it's a name given to that particualr type of CPU core e.g. Prescott is one instance of Pentium 4 core and both Barcelona and Manila are cores of AMDs new Phenom CPUs I believe.

Core actually is the right term, for instance a dual-core processor has two cores, a quad-core processor has 4 cores..
