1 Pentium 4 CPU at 3.2GHz, LGA775

Im looking at purchasing some CPU's there a very good price and for something so cheap i was wondering if they coul dpossible be in working condition. It is said they have been in water (hurricana katrina, salt water)
I was wondering if there is a chance they couyld be working.... they look like normal used CPU's but obviosly arent.
also for safety reasons i was wondering what could possible happen if i put tthem into a motherboard and they were broken or fried. I can not afford to make this mistake please help
thanks

It's possible, but most likely the salt corroded the delicate circuits.

In terms of effects, if you try to turn it on most likely nothing will happen, but you have a chance of damaging your motherboard or power supply in the process.

well i spent $66US on my Motherboard and would not like to wreck it but for how mcuh i would save if it worked it would be really great to have them working together.... im not sure if i should risk it
what do you all think

How much are they going for?

If you do get them, i would narrow the list down by selecting parts that physically look ok, and dont look corroded. Then i would take the fastest processor, such as the 2.8 or 3.2, and try one of those.

If you didnt notice, the Pentium 4 3.2Ghz is LGA775, and all the other ones are 478, so which motherboard do you have?

im nto sure if this is good or bad for me but my motherboard will only take the LGA775, right now there going for about $23US shipped. i figure itll raise to about $35 tops(hopefully)

The LGA775 looks in fair condition, however its most likely corroded and wont work. If you do get it, i would think that it simply wont boot, or make several long beeps. I'll leave it up to you to decide.

well i think ill give it a try.... not sure if im being stupid or not. but those CPUS are selling for close to 150 and id be happy with a cheap one. I wont be mad if they dont work but if my motherboard stops working ill feel like an idiot.
thanks for the helpo Omega
