CPU damaged or not correctly installed

Recently my computer doesn't want to start the first time I try to start it up. According to the diagnostic leds the CPU is damaged or not correctly installed. But when I hold the "start" button in until the computer shuts down and I start it up again it works perfectly. What could the problem be?

Has the computer been working fine before, and have you made any hardware changes recently? If not, has the problem just started happeneing out of nowhere?

You may want to check that all the connections are secure inside the case.

Well the latest hardware addition is a 120mm fan I found at home, it has it's own PSU. But it worked fine with it about 3-6 days. The fan is fastened on the chassis so it blows in air.

have tried aCMOS clear? i think its ather a bios problem. i had a similair problem with my MSI k7t limited edition board. when i wanted to start it up, th diagnostic led's indicated there is a RAM error. i putte a new bios in it, and the pc runne fine again.

so i think you need to flash the bios. (plz, say if omeone here disagrees. )
