cpu damaged

Aperature size generally has to do with the amount of memory installed on the system as well as the size of the AGP itself if you are using one. The usual advice is to set that to 1/2 of the card's total. A 128mb card would see 64mb made available for storing complex textures and effect video performance.
The aperture size is how much system memory you want to be able to share with the AGP card. It can have performance bonuses but whatever you set it to the card will still work. I have it set to 4MB on my old compaq and it works fine.
Since you didn't say what PCI/AGP/PEG first graphics (Graphic Adapter Priority, among other names) mode setting does I'll assume you don't know and tell you. It's a setting to tell the BIOS where to look for the video adapter first.

I doubt the pin broke, plus other AGP cards work so it's probably a compatability thing with the 'mgp' and 9600XT you have.

The allocation of system memory to be shared and the type of card you use are two different things altogether.

Once i bent like 10 pins and successfully straightened them out with a magnifier attatched to a tweezer. Dont worry - youll be fine.

PS IF the pins CAME bent them I think you should send it back - just in case.

He is fine. The cpu is already working. The one thing to note on cpus is never open up the retail box if you plan to return it. Most vendors will not accept them back like they would on other types of hardwares. The problem now is with the ATI 9600 XT 128mb AGP card. That can be looked over at http://www.amazon.com/ATI-Technolog...0TU/ref=de_a_smtd/104-6801470-9235108?ie=UTF8

I was going to upgrade the card anyways ,but I was going to use my 9600xt a bit longer I'm going to go ahead and upgrade to the xfx 7600gt pci express should do me fine I'm not a hardcore gamer..

You can get some good deals on ATI models as well. The link there was only a reference for an exact replacement not upgrade. And XFX brand cards go over like a "lead balloon" around here. You can do far better for maybe less even with a different make. Need some help there?

There's nothing wrong with XFX. You generally get a factory overclocked card with an otherwise reference design. They are also comparable in price to other brands. A 7600GT will do well unless you like very demanding games.

Comparing to other brands board of the same card. That 1900GT is an open box you cannot compare that to the retail box when looking at price. The Asus version is more expensive because of the fancy cooler as is the MSI.

When you want to compare prices try to pick cards with the same feature set and not some refurbished, open box and retail boxed versions as that makes your price comparison completely useless.

The 1900GT is the best value for $ there but that is only because it was a returned product.

Well he could also go a little cheaper with the Sapphire Radeon X1600 Pro 512mb model seen for $109.99 at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102041

This one far outdoes the 4 p.pipelines on the MSI Radeon X1300 Pro model here without seeing the higher cost of the others. Or he could pay out a little more for the retail cost of $199.99 on the Sapphire Radeon X1900GT seen at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102022 But then that would be going over the simple upgrade from the 9600 GT AGP model.

yea I was actually looking at a sapphire x1600pro for $78 at newegg it's an open box but it's cheap..I also seen an 7900gt for $180 I think after $40 rebate at tigerdirect.com...I might go with the sapphire but I really like the x850xt at newegg but it doesn't support shader 3.0
