Use a different cord from the psu

Replace the fan

Check your psu

its pluged into the mobo, i was going to fit another fan but it didt shoot out nearly as much air, i tested em both on the systyem and the stock amd fan still puts out more even with the rpm drop........

thing is i dont no the speacs of the fan thats on it to buy a better/same kind of fan.......

if anyone has the specs of the fan please tell me. its from a AMD athlon 1700xp, like 4-5years old stock cooler

I dunno fan specs, but it is socket A
Here is a replacement fan(if that is indeed the problem)

Has any other component of the computer been functioning lower than orig? If so, I might think faulty psu

It could also be the mobo, but I doubt it

Well assuming you've not done anything then thats prolly the sign of an aging fan. Quickest route is to get a new HSF or CPU fan :)

Yeah...

this seems like a dying fan. Remember that if you have your pc turned on all the time, it is likely to be a dying fan. After 4 years...it is about time it died. The lifespan, depending on whether it has sleeve or ball bearing would range from roughly 3 years to 5 years.

No :)

It will burn out at 85 Celsius according to AMD. So for now, it will not burn or anything. Don't worry. Make sure you change the HSF though...you never know when it will die.
