well if it's at 100%, then I don't think it will go any higher, you could try plugging it in without any kind of controller so it runs full all the time, but I don't see that helping you out all too much

Ok, just to help this topic die a little quicker. I don't think it would be the best idea to wire 2 power sources in a series because I think you'll have to cut the wires and then solder them back together after you connect them to something and a whole bunch of crap that would be a waste of time. All fans have a limit and it's best not to push it past that limit since you'll end up shortening the life of the fan.

well i only ask b/c ive seen others with thier fans at way higher speeds, and i dont think my fans are at full power.thus i dont have the low temps as id like to have and seen others have with the same processor. i dont really care about the life of the fan as i can always buy another one or another HSF only if i have to.

Yeah... He was probably suggesting taking a 12v line and a 5v line and combining them. However, the fan would probably burn out seeing as they usally aren't meant to take more than 12v
Not all fans need speed. Many higher performace fans(particually larger ones) can move more air at lower speeds. My CPU fan runs at about 2100RPM max, and I still get quite good temps(35*C or so) I think it'll do much better with my new case...

oic but the thing i dont get is that the other people i compare with have the same CPU(x2 4200) and use the stock HSF, same as me, but i get higher temps while they are way lower. thats y i want to see/test if the speed of the fan is my problem. b/c it seems low to me when i hear of all these high temps. like you 2100rpm mine is like 900rpm-1000rpm which is way lower.The_Other_One said:

ive got a 77cfm 120mm thats brings in about 68F or ~20C air from my room. and a 80cfm 120mm in the back taking out air. and i can make it to 114cfm if i wanted to but i only do that when i play a game or have music on to drown the loud noise.
i thought of an air duct but im not quite sure on how to make one that will look good. ill probably just get a new HSF when i start to OC my cpu.b/c i dont have the money for it now.

What i said was technically correct however its kinda pointless to even bother and overvolting fans is never a brilliant idea.
And ive seen other people with faster computers and faster cars and faster bullets......
Well check the manufacturers specs on the fan
In that case, buy a better fan
But imagine say running 13v through a high flow 120mm
While you can compare things like CPU, mobo, fans etc, there's no way to readily convey how much thermalpaste was used or how well lapped a HSF was....
