hi i was just wondering i have amd sempron processor 3000+ and the fan wouldn't wouldn't spin unless i open some application and when it's done opening the fan stops again i was just wondering if that is normal or not
 
do you have it plugged into the motherboard, try plugging it directly into the power supply, they make adapters if it's 3pin only which the one that came with my sempron 3000+ was.
 
it's working fine now...
but i'm just wondering how fast the fan is suppose to be going? i have it starting off at 600 something ... den after 5 mins it goes to 1100... is that normal? And what is the usual speed of stock cpu fans
 
probably it's temperature controlled, so after the cpu gets a bit hotter, the fan speed raises with it. My cpu fan runs at like 2k-3k, but then again its a crappy 70mm fan.
