Robert may I ask why you are curious about super old processors?

thanks but

So if I got this right

The first Pentume had L1. on the chip and was socket 7.

The Pentume Pro had L1. and L2. bot on the chip and was socked 8.

RIGHT

Right, the first on was Socket 4, then jumped to 5 and 7. AMD kept using socket 7 and came out with what they called Super 7. Nothing but a 100MHZ FSB socket 7.

Not talking about Intel, But I (believe) AMD K6-III was the first processor to have on die L2. Released in Feb. 1999. Intel Pentium II still had off die L2 just like the Pentium Pro. Think the first Intel processor with on die L2 was the Pentium III Coppermine. Released in Oct. 1999.
