CPU Help

I just got an AMD 64 3500 and i can't seem to get it into the mobo correctly, and is there even a patch or cover over the thermal paste on the heatsink for this cpu? b/c the instructions said nothing of it. And i can't get the heatsink and fan on right, the pictures for instructions aren't much help, i just can't get the cpu heatsink locking lever to close, i'm pushing on it kind of hard, so i stopped trying to prevent breaking something, any help?
 
Push as hard as you can. You wont brake it. It seems like you will but you wont.

Oh, I guess I should make this clear, I'm talking about the HSF, not the CPU.

Lol, you're right. Just dont be afraid to push the clip. It requires alot of force.
 
The CPU has a specific way of entering the socket, it won't fit any other way. I aways though it should jsut drop in, I've never had a wafer CPU that would not simply "drop" into place.

HSF can be tricky to do, and most require alot of force. Don't be scared to push on it, it won't crush the CPU if you're aligning it right. Just don't sit on it or anything. If you really can't get it on, perhaps find a friend who is experienced and can help you. I know I still struggle with some HSF's that are stubborn to get on.
 
Sorry, I was talking about the HSF clip, I should have specified. Sorry for any trouble.
 
there is only one way a cpu can go on...ususally indicated by little triangles in the corners, or maybe a pin is missing...something. but it has to match up, or you will break it. and yea, i just ran into a similar problem with a fan on a computer...you have to push a little bit; its more flexible than you think, its one of those things that uses pressure to work correctly
