the plate that folds over my cpu is slightly curved(with no cpu, center of plate is almost touching pins), in order to latch it down I will have to apply a lot of pressure it looks like. Is this normal? or do I have to bend it? arg

Line up the arrow on the CPU with the arrow on the Socket and drop it in. Then close the plate and secure the latch. You shouldn't have to push it with lots of force, but marginal push-back is normal. So long as the arrows are lined up, you should be fine.

I think my plate is defective then, it does not sit flat on cpu. at quite an angle due to the curve of it. In order to have plate sit flat I would have to apply enough pressure to bend it. I may try to bend it with pliers, or rma it, i dono arrghh.

sorry if huge pic, look ok? lever makes contact at 90 degree, I pushed it down to a 45degree before mobo started creeking.
