my cpu keeps overheating and shuts down! i think its the fan because last summer i had to use the damn table fan to keep the cpu cool n then i changed the fan when i got the chance to buy another one. but now this summer its happening again, i admit my room does get pretty humid. what are the cheap ways to solve this problem? like new casing? or new sorta fans?

and another thing! now my pc sumtimes doesn't start with the first press at the start button! i can hear the fan start but theres nothing in the monitor showing its starting, but then sometimes after shutting it bak down after 1 or two tries it works!!! whats goin on?

get a new CPU cooler, check newegg for one in your socket size, what type of CPU is it?

its an asus P4S800mx, i jus installed Motherboard Monitor software, its alarming that the cpu temperature is 84. Celcius :s and it seems the cpu fan isn't running at all (as per the software). but then i opened the box and i can see the fan still running :s what does that mean?

hmm, turn your computer off, de-static charge yourslef by touching the metal on the inside of the case, and youch the heatsink thats on your CPU. Is it to hot to hold your finger on there for a few seconds. Also check your task manager for CPU usage, is it at 100% constantly? if so, what task is doing that to you?

Had you done any maintenance to the inside of your computer directly before this started happening, or did you maybe move it? Maybe the heatsink has become dislodged and isn't coming into full contact with the CPU. I would get some artic silver, and follow the directions on their site on how to apply it to your specific CPU if you think that this might possible be the problem.

the heatsinks connected, i connected it myself, and the inside of the case isnt hot when the pc is running! i think the cpu fan's sensor is connected to a different port, thats why its not coming up on the monitor software as a cpu fan but comes as the system fan. but i'm not sure bout this because i have a system fan as well :s i am posting some pics

Do you have any case fans? IF so are they maybe both intake or both exhaust? If you DONT, maybe you should install one or two, and get a larger heatsink and fan for your CPU. Correction I see you have one. Beats me :(
