CPU maxed out, but ram randomly used?

I have a 3.0 Ghz quad-core(AMD) with 8 gigs of RAM (DDR2). Often when running high memory demand programs (Photoshop, 3ds Max, After Affects, etc.,) My CPU will be running at 100% capacity, but my RAM will, most times, be running at 27% and lagging hard. Occasionally my computer will use RAM as it should and my CPU doesn't max out. It seems rather random.

I check the compatibilities of the RAM and the motherboard/CPU when I bought them and they are supposed to be compatible.

The RAM settings in the BIOS and all other areas are nominal and correct.

What am I missing here?

Open task manager and find out what process or processes is using up all the processor and let us know.

I would suggest posting the malwarebytes log along with a hijackthis log to make sure you are clean.

Download the HijackThis installer from here.
Run the installer and choose Install, indicating that you accept the licence agreement. The installer will place a shortcut on your desktop and launch HijackThis.

Click Do a system scan and save a logfile

Most of what HijackThis lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.

When the hijackthis log appears in a notepad file, click on the edit menu, click select all, then click on the edit menu again and click on copy. Come back to your reply and right click on your mouse and click on paste.

Post the logfile that HijackThis produces along with the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware log

In that case run a FULL SCAN with malwarebytes and at the end delete everything what it found and restart the computer.

If the problem is still there after that, open task manager,go to the PROCESSES tab and take a look at the CPU tab and then give us the process name which has the highest CPU usage.Except SYSTEM IDLE PROCESS.That one is always high, but that's normal.

Cheers!
