Cpu & Mobo

I love the mobo --- it's the same one used in CyberPower's 7500 SE, which pcworld gave a great review of

But for the processor... For about 300 dollars you could get the lowest dual-core they have (3800+) which would be an incredible imporvement over a single-core 3700

Yeah I was looking at dual cores, but I've read that for hardcore gamers, dual-core isn't the way to go. Why? I'm not sure. When i'm gaming, I usually have quite a few programs running.

well right now single cores are better for games because most games can only utilize one core. but in the very near future games will be able to use both cores and they will be much better. get the dual core now, they are fine for games now and better in the future.

However, there hasn't been anything to show that dual core processors are not good for games. Actually almost all of the reviews show the dual cores to be excellent for gaming. You said that you a few programs running, that is where dual core comes in handy.

I have a dual core and I get over 65 FPS in WoW with all max graphics on.. saying dual core isn't good for gaming is pure bullshit. I love mine. =D And it's only a 4200.
