CPU not up to speed??

Well I finally got everything together and got my new computer together. Is a Gigabyte Titan GA-8inxp with a 3.06 P4 Northwood chip. 513Mb Corsair value memory.
My problem is My chip only runs at 2.2 Ghz. and at most I can overclock it to 2.6Ghz before it crashes which obviously isn't even overclocking. FSB is stock at 100MHz, all I can get it to is 116 and that is just to get it to the 2.6GHz.
Any ideas at all?? If I try to up the Volts to the CPU even .1 it crashes also. No idea why it can't even get up to normal speed.
Thanks
Matt

That particular model should be running @133. The E7205 chipset on that board is able to do 133. You may have something set wrong in the BIOS that prevents you from hitting 133.

definitely right chip

It reads it as being the 3.06 chip that is for sure. But even if I go back to the default settings for the bios it still reads 100 fsb. Driving me crazy! Anything else possibly? Thanks a lot

Are you able to get pictures of the various screens in your BIOS? CPU and RAM pages at would probably help the most.

I had this same exact problem with my gigabyte board that drove me crazy. open your case up and look near your chipset or it might be near your cpu. There should be a litle DIP switch if you look in the mobo manual it will help you find it better but the switch is set so that idiots cant mess up their processor and keeps fsb at 100 no matter what they do, you have to turn the switch off then you can change it, same thing happened to me when i was trying to OC i went crazy for like 4 days
