Hi, my friend has just bought a new CPU, because he wants to play Black Hawk Down, he said that he has this mobo:GA-8SIMLNF

He has just bought this processor (see link) http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/prod...m9kdWN0X3NwZWNpZmljYXRpb25z&product_uid=58515

He said that he put it in and it doesn't work, but he assured me that he put it in properly, im not able to check this for a couple of days because im going to be away, but does this Mobo support the processor, its the same socket type but i dont know, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You would still want to look over the specifications to see just what the board supports before buying anything. Once the exact model number is known a quick trip to the link there at Gigabyte will solve that correctly. There are several models that start the same with different combinations added to separate what they do or do not support.

thats the model number my friend gave me, if you read my post you would see that he allready bought the processor and it doesn't work.

The board may need a bios update if it supports that model cpu. But you should look into verifying the actual model number of the board to see if it does. The other problem could be a bad chip was received or damaged when it was installed. If the pins on the cpu were touched at all the esd factor could have wiped the cpu itself if it wasn't a factory defect. But you have a link here to look over the different models once you know which one it is.
