 when people talk about overclocking you cpu until it is almost unstable..........what in all reality is a good way to see if it is unstable? Is there any signs to look for when you are checking if something is unstable?

running prime 95, seti/boinc, or games. run it for an hour or so, if your computer hasnt crashed by then then the overclock was stable.

You dont overclock to the point where its unstable for the sake of making it unstable. You do that to find the limit of the overclock

alright

ok.....I was planning on trying to overclock it just a little without the chance of hurting it in any way.....I don't really play any of the "heavy" games....just nascar and the first half life. Have any particular amounts you would try....I mean as far as settings that you think would be ok to set at? :)

1. Trial and error
2. You dont need to OC nothing to play those games (esp. first halflife)

If you are concerned about it you can run some FarCry benchmarks. Though this is designed mainly for your graphics card it will put stress on your CPU.
