Hey Guys I May Have A Problem With Overheating And I Just Want To Ask A Few Questions.

At What Temp Does a Pentium 4 2.8Ghz Start To Experience Overheating Issues ?

Also My Idle Temp Is 41* I Have The Max Temp Of The Cpu Set At 60* I Realise I Can Not Play Games With The Cpu Like This. Will Keeping The Temp Under Say 50* Affect The Cpu Life Or Damage It In Any Way ?

Cheers And Thanks For All Help In Advance :)

System Specifications
Intel 2.8 Ghz Pentium 4 Processor

Ati Radeon 9600 Pro 256mb Agp

50 degrees is a little warm, even for a P4 but I don't think it is too hot. Mine idles between 35-40 and get around 50 under load. Has it always ran this warm? Do you have good circualtion inside your case? Make sure the heatsink fins are clean of dust. That makes a differnce when it comes to cooling. I clean mine quarterly.

Good luck!

maybe warm, but you aren't on the highway to the danger zone. Add a case fan in the front and back and you would see a little difference.

I Realise What You Are Saying Cryption But The Problem Is Once I Do Enter A Game After About 10 Mins It Has Already Shot Up To 60* And The Alarm Bells Are Going Off Inside The Computer. Also The Heatsink Is Brand New Just Bought It 2 Weeks Ago And Hasn't Had Much Use So I Do Not Think That Dust Will Be A Problem In This Case

Ah I didn't gather that it got to 60 while gaming. Did you build the computer? Did you use thermal paste between the heatsink and the CPU?

Hey Again i Have Just Taken Off All The Free Cd Trays And Put A Pedastil Fan Up Next To It With This Being Done It Has Dramatically Decreased The Temperature Of The Cpu It Is Now Down To 35* On Idle Haven't Played A Game With It Like This Though Yet Don't Plan To For A While Also One Of My Mates Said That There Is Nothing To Worry About With The Cpu Temp He Said Anything Under 72* Is Fine. Is This True And If Not Why Would He Say Something Like This I Mean The Man Has Been Into Computers For 8 Years Now
