So my computer has been randomly shutting off when playing higher end games. I concluded it was a heating problem in my CPU, and that I needed to put on some new thermal paste. I reinstalled the thermal paste, yet my CPU is still hitting up to 80c and getting close to where my computer automatically shuts off. If someone could tell me what I need to do to fix this I would be very grateful.

GPU temp goes up to 61c
For re-applying I just put a drop of the paste on the CPU and took a card and evenly spread it

Correct! It'll evenly spread, normally with no air pockets. That way the seal is perfect.
Do you have a link or model number for your cooler? What you said before doesn't make much sense to me. Might need a better cooler. The FX chips will start throttling hard once they crack 70oC and if you're going above that you need to stop what you're doing. In all reality you don't want them above 62oC let alone 70oC or even 80oC.

From what I understand it's the stock cooler.. The really crappy one haha
OP: If that doesn't work, a better cooler might help you. There's a lot of different options as far as air cooling go.

Did you properly clean the CPU of all previous paste first? Using something with a alcohol percentage over 90%?
