CPU Overheating?

Hi Wolf

I recently downloaded all the updates for MSI Live. It had me restart my computer and when it loads it brings up a warning that my CPU is overheating at 255Celsius. I immediatly shut down my computer. Then about 5 minutes later I booted to PC Health and it said the CPU was only at around 38Celsius. So I started windows and when MSI Live loaded again it gave the same warning that the CPU was overheating at 255Celsius and I immediatly shut it down again just in case. This is a very new computer that i've built about two weeks ago. It was all working fine untill I downloaded the MSI Live update. What could be causing my CPU to overheat so much? Could it be an MSI Live error? I am confused and scared please help! The CPU I am using is a Core 2 Duo E6600. This is also my first time building a computer.

I got the updates from MSI Live Updater or whatever it is called. It came with my MSI x1900xtx video card. So I'm pretty sure its not a virus.

If it were 255 degree celsius you could probably feel it from where you were sitting, lol.

Yeah, I ignored it and downloaded SpeedFan which said it was at 30C. Wow that thing was off by alot. Never going to use that program again (PC Alert 4). I figured I'd post here anyway just to be safe 'cause its my first computer and I was leaving to go to a game anyway.
