I installed my E8400, and started up, and I'm getting this message, "CLIENT MAC ADDR: *then it displays a code*, then says "DHCP . . ." and it has a moving / symbol.


And after a while, it says DISK BOOT FAILURE.



It says "Warning! CPU has been changed.
Please re-enter CPU settings in the CMOS setup and remember to save before quit!"



What do I do?

first put in your old processor, then if you get the disk boot, i guess reformat is needed? otherwise i guess a bios flash may be in order(thought the 750i's were 45nm ready?)
 
Can I do something that doesn't require me putting the old processor in? The HSF is a pain to get on, it's the push pin one.

Changed your processor and it freaked out on you. Try resetting your bios or if you can get in your bios reset it to defaults.
 
I tried booting with my Windows disc, but the problem is, it's a burned copy, but it's legal, it's from Microsofts site.

It's leading me through a loop.. I says boot your Windows CD and choose Repair, so I restart, and it takes me through the same process..

you need to disable network boot in the BIOS, and make sure that your hardrive is first in the boot priority
 
I had an external drive plugged in, which I unplugged, and then I changed that in the BIOS, to Hard Disk, and I'm trying to reload the Windows disc, and am running into the same looping problem I posted above.
 
your computer is trying to boot from the network card. changing the CPU cant kill your hard drive, so one of two things is happening.

1) you knocked one of the cables for your harddrive loose

2) the boot order in your BIOS is not set properly. if you want to be able to boot of of disks, make your optical drive first, then your harddrive, and just disable everything else.

also, you dont need to reinstall the OS if the only thing you changed was the CPU
 
Yes, it boots up properly now, but I'm getting that blank screen after boot up, that I've gotten before..

I tried switching my SLI cards, booting from only one, and still no luck.



It's asking me if I want to boot up Windows normally, and I'm trying, but nothing is working.

Yes, and I'm posting this on the Desktop, so it works.


All I did was remove the CMOS battery for a little bit, and it worked.

haha, yeah, i forgot to mention that you would need to reset the CMOS, its bc you still had the settings for your e6300 in there
 
OH SNAP

G4, does it keep cycling you on and on to the 'choose operating system' screen and then it fails and you have to go back. I had the same exact issue when i changed my cpu/ram/mobo all together. A reformat fixed everything up.
