ok i brought an amd 5600 dual core, put it in my comp turned it on and it beeps 5 times which means that there is something wrong with the cpu, how can something be wrong with it if its new? is there anything i can do?
cheers, adam
You did make sure to put the CPU in the right way, right? Because it only works in one way. It may seem hard to believe, but I actually did that once when building a PC a long time ago.
And did you put on the heatsink and fan and connect it?
First off, beep codes are not always 100% accurate, so don't limit yourself to the processor.
My first guess would be the bios. Perhaps a flash is required to use that processor. Or is the board even compatible with it? A bit doubtful it wouldn't be, but worth checking out.
Since its a newer processor I would say you need to check for a update for the Bios, a few I have built with the 5400,5600 and 6000 did the same thing!
ok everything is in properly and no i didnt put the cpu in the wrong way, it may help if u say that this is a new build...but everything else runs..like it powers on and i can hear the hard drive booting but i get those 5 beeps...
