CPU question

Sometimes my cpu will jump around and when I say jump around, i have one of those cpu usage monitors on the side for my q6660. Sometimes when im not even running anything the ussage will go way up then down and continue on. My temps also jump from about 46 to 52 in one second and then back down and continue on. What is causing this. I also oc to 3.0 but ran prime 95 and passed.

Do you have any anti-virus or anti-spyware programs installed that may be updating or scanning in the background when the computer is idle? If you have Vista it's also possible that the OS is indexing the files on your hard drive, or performing a defragmentation.
