Hello,

I know of the difference for desktop processors, but for laptops, how is AMD's Athlon (or is it Turion ?) X2 comparing to Intel Core 2 Duo. I am interested to know both in terms of speed and power consumption.

Also, it would be great to have an idea of how some of those processors, say a TK-55 and a T5250 compare to an Intel Pentium M 1.73ghz. I know they are considerably more powerful, but curious about if it is possible to have figures.

Thanks a lot.

comparing the two processors you listed is like day and night. a fast pentium would be one at or over 3GHZ anything below that (maybe except for the 2.8 version) is just plain weak. the dual cores on the other end are pure power, they are capable to run pretty much anything, and faster then any single core out there. as for amd or intel, intel chips are better on laptops as well, although unless your gaming i suggest simply going for the cheapest dual core, they are all awesome

Thanks, well I knew there was a big diff between pentium M and dual cores...

How about power consumption ? Is there a winner between AMD and Intel ?

I believe Intel's CPU's are less power hungry than AMD's...this is only a hunch though. I know for their desktop CPU's the Intels take less power than the AMD's...so i can only assume it would carry over to the laptops.
