cpu removal??

Say I want to return my cpu to Newegg for a new one, if I shutdown my computer and remove the CPU, do I lose everything I have on my system? I know the hard drives will still be there but what happens? Do I have to reinstall xp? maybe a dumb question but I really don't know and I've spent all week reloading everything and setting back up with my options, but I do only have 30 days for a replacement cpu and if it spikes up to 256f again I am returning it, or should I just do it now? Depends on the answer to this previous question I guess.

your hard drive stores all the info and thats what the computer uses to store XP and the Hard drive is what loads the system. You can just remove it get a new one and pop it in and start computer and it will work fine
