CPU Running High/Hot--SLOW!!!

Well, the cpu usage shows 100 percent but unfortunately, you didn't show the full task manager, and make sure you click on that button that says show processes from all users. Then repost a screenshot.

Sorry--by "full task manager" do you mean take a screen shot of each one of the tabs separately, or am I totally spacing what you're asking for? Anyway, it's been happening on/off all day so I should be able to get another screenshot off here today.

Ok, see in the attached picture...

1. click on where it says "show processes from all users"
2. Click on the middle box top right side of the screen where I circled in red, this will expand the task manager to show you more processes. That way the right slider bar which is circled in red will be gone and you will see the full task manager.

You can see that I still wasn't able to get a screenshot of all the processes since there are more listed processes than can even fit on my screen, even when the window is stretched out to it's full length. I considered scrolling down and taking another screenshot, but all the processes were zero, and the processes keep changing their usage rates so it wouldn't be totally accurate anyhow. Anyway, if it would help for me to do this anyway, let me know, and we can take a third-crack at me getting you what you need.

It had been doing real well so far today; but again, as I was streaming videos for my work, intermittently it begins to peak to 100% until I pause the video and let it... I suppose 'catch up' would be the way it seems to be working. CPU does much better and lasts much longer without going to 100% when I don't go full-screen.

Google searched "CPU runs at 100% when playing youtube videos" or "CPU runs at 100% when playing videos"; came up with a handful of forum topics that sound similar to my situation--either these people never ended up finding a solution, or a really complicated (to me, at least) solution was proposed and then no further responses (either it worked or they stopped checking back before the suggested solution was proposed).

I'll close this response with another sincere thank you for your help.

Ok, not sure if you have done this yet, but uninstall chrome and reinstall. And if this is all because of youtube videos then try uninstalling Flash player and downloading the latest version.

Download and run the flash player uninstaller

http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html

then download the lastest version here.

http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

But try the flash player uninstall and reinstall first and if that don't help, try using firefox or uninstall and reinstall chrome and see if there is a difference.

I tried.

It seems flash is a very difficult program to uninstall.

I mean, I've tried to do it a number of times now and it simply will not cooperate. I saw that you need to exit out of all programs that use flash in order for it to uninstall properly--that is, it won't uninstall if it's being used. Problem was I couldn't find a list of programs that were using it. So I'd simply just try and quit out of as many different programs as I could and THEN attempt uninstalling it--

To no avail.

In theory it sounds like excellent advice, and I would love to try it. I don't know if it's a testament to my computer-fixing limitations, or if it's a credit to those people at flash making a program really damn frustrating to uninstall and reinstall totally, but either way--I'm somewhat at a loss.

As for chrome; my CPU issues aren't prejudiced toward different internet browsers--it dislikes all of them equally, it seems.

Well, I don't know about Internet Explorer, because I just don't ever use it. Wouldn't that be a cruel twist of fate? If Internet Explorer didn't give flash/my CPU any trouble at all?

Guess I'll try it now...
