Cpu temp

i have (as in my sig) an Intel E4700, its not overclocket and is using the stock Intel fan. the average temp are between 40 (light work) and 46 (gaming)

is this normal, seems a little warm

just an update, HWmonitor by CPUID says that right now im at 38 degree c. just been doing light browsing so far, been on for about 1h:30mins

use coretemp it's free and the most accurate out there.
46 isn't that high

my E5200 appears to sit at 23 degrees all day while browsing.

I don't have a computer case though, so that MIGHT help. haha

also, its a 45nm so it runs cooler

edit: alright, and coretemp says its at 38 degrees...

lol, i do have an arctic 7 cooler but although meant for use with 775 cpus it was really meant for the p4 not the core 2 duo

shud i use it, big fan, lots of alumin plates, copper base thingi

I'm not sure about "coretemp"

its reporting the CPU to be at 38 - 40 degrees now, while the motherboard software says its at 25 degrees.

plus, coretemp says the frequency is 1200Mhz (200 X 6) ah, thats not right.

wait... does the multiplier constantly change? :s
