CPU Temp

You can use various programs to check your temperatures. Normally I use Speedfan (http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php) for my CPU temp. Or you can check it within the BIOS saving you installing anything but that can get very tedious if you want an on the spot reading if something goes wrong etc. Depending on what type of processer you have there are other programs to read temps too. Like for the Intel Core 2 Duos there is that TAT program.

As Breaks said, the two most common ways are to check them via the BIOS, or download a program such as SpeedFan or Everest. Intel TAT is a great program, but it only works for the Core 2 Duo and similar series.

If that's when you're computer is idle then that is insanely hot! You really need to do something about your cooling (buy a new heatsync, use better thermal paste, reseat the heatsync you already have etc). I think burning point for processors is around 80C? Anyway you definitely have a problem there. What processor do you have?

AMD Athlon 3000+ 754 Socket. I was thinking about buying a new heatsink/fan, but I don't really know what my options are.

Well i just turned the fan i installed around, it was blowing air in instead of out, and its now 61c. Still needs to be cooler though.
