cpu temperature is higher than it used to be

I built a computer with fedora 8 running on a core 2 duo cpu.
I rebooted my computer today because I had some kernel updates and found that the temperatures of both cores have become higher than they used to be.

When there are no processes running that consume a lot of cpu time, the cpu temperatures used to be around 17-18C, but after rebooting they are around 32-33C.

Has anyone had a similar experience?
What is causing the temperature to rise more than 10C?
Is there a way to find out what went wrong or changed?

Thank you.

Well it is getting warmer, it could be the summer temperatures effecting it?

In winter, I idled at 18C but today, im idling at 57C, but it is 105 outside, so I guess that's made an impact.

I've just found that the updated kernel is causing it.
When I reboot with the old kernel, the temperatures are what they used to be (16-18C).

I did notice an increase of a couple of degrees as it is getting warmer, but a rise of almost 15C is not due to the change in room temperature.

I will run the old kernel until I find how to fix this problem.
Let me know if you have further information or any other ideas.

Thanks
