CPU temperature

hey guys, my e8500 used to run at around 27-30 degrees C with the stock cooler and arctic silver 5, i just bought a thermaltalke V1 and with arctic silver my cpu temp on around 15 percent usage is at 18 C and while playing CSS it is around 23 is that good? or too low? and i am going to over clock so are these temps good enough to over clock to around 3.5 or 3.6? right now it is stock at 3.16

You'll never have a problem running a cpu too low of a temp with air cooling.

Thats a Great temp, overclock away!

If those temps are right, they are excellent, however are you using software to measure this because they are extremely low for air cooling, hell they are low for water cooling too tbh!! Unless you are sat in a room that is damn cold most of the time, I would take a guess that they are actually wrong. Even if they are out by up to maybe +15 degrees, they are still good temps, but if they are right, like I saw, they are amazing for idle

if you watch any of the overclocking championships, you will see that they pour (literally) liquid nitrogen on the cpus (though i don't know if it directly contacts the cpu). no such thing as too cold of a cpu. though i will agree with Aastii, they don't seem correct. try using another program to check them like Speedfan.

ok thanks :D yeah ive seen those overclocking championships, i think they have a heatsink on there i dont know, i think the liquid nitrogen would instantly evaporate at that temeprature, its boiling point is negative i think so yeah :/ it boils on ur hands! so probably it goes on a heatsink and carries the heat off as evaporation :D

i use everest to check temps but i dont trust software to monitor my hardware as when i first used everest it was saying my non-overclocked p4 was running at a 145 C which was crap as i checked the bios and it said 34 C, however since that original hiccup ity has been reporting the CPU temps correctly.

not sure if that would be the best way to check since the temperature (i am not sure, it might) of a fin is probably not the same as the cpu itself. i know if i feel my heatsink when cpu is at max temperature (around 40-45) it does NOT feel that hot (otherwise i would burn the crap out of my hand). just do a stress test and quickly shut down and boot up, enter the bios, and check the temperature. probably one of the most reliable ways to check it (i am assuming).
