I am trying to find some type or software like a status bar that will show me the temps and loads on my cpu and other components I found a few softwares like motherboard monitor and intel desktop, but none of them work. I have a new dell xps 4000 pentium d 940 3.2 ghz . which I am not sure wich mother bord that uses, because that would make my search for the right software easier. Can someone help me out.

You can use SpeedFan, that will tell you the temps of various computer parts, as long as them have a temperature sensor.

cool what is the easiest way for me to find out what motherbord I have because dell does not specify this infor and I am too lazy to go home and open up the case.

If you have a Dell motherboard, the only thing you can do is monitor HD temps. You cannot control fan speed, monitor CPU temps, or anything else.

Intel is the cpu not the mobo...as far as I know dell uses their own boards.

Really? I wonder who makes my motherboard then. ;)

And yes, I can monitor all my temps with speedfan.

Try systemview pro,

It displays cpu, case & hdd temps on your dektop as well as loads on your memory & cpu.
Just google it ;)

awsome guys I will try this things out tonight when I get home from work, if this damn heat goes away and I can turn on my computer. On that note the only place I could put my tower was into the desk cubby which I know is a bad idea because of the small space, but I was thinking of cutting a hole in the side of the desk where the tower is and placing like a 12 inch fan, you think that would help pulling the hot air form the space behind the computer.

well I just downloaded the cpu-z and I don't have an intel mobo but a dell mobo, does that mean there is no way for me to get a read out on my cpu temp.

Yup, no way... Unless you make your own temperature sensor... :)
