CPU Thermal Paste

The only time I reapply any paste is if I take off the HS, or if I see my temp start going high on a constant basis and I'm trouble shooting

^ Agree with post above. ^
EXCEPT: If your temperatures are going high, and you've applied it the right way, then it may jsut be your HSF or something else in your computer.

Don't use the white "thermal paste" get Arctic Silver 5 or something, unless you just going to do simple things on your computer

but like how oftem, i dont have a temp read out , like should i do it every 6 to months or a year ???? bc i dont really trust the paste my cpu came with .

well i just need to know how often do i have to change and re apply the thermal adhesive ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????

does anyone know how often u have to re apply thermal paste ?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!??!!?!?!!?!?!?!?

There is no set time for changing Paste. If you are using cheap stuff change it every few months, but if you are using something like AS5 let it go for about 12-18 months, unless you are having issues or if you remove your heat sink. I don't know what else to tell you, I looked on google and there is no standard replacement time frame.

Your best bet it to look up the brand thermal paste you are using and it should list how long the life span is. For example Thermalright recommends changing their past ever 12 months. So it really depends on the brand

but what do u think about changing a paste that came with the heatsink and cpu already applied? i was thinking changing it at a 6 month period then getting that AS5 ?

That would be fine. The cooler the CPU the more life. I would just use that thermal paste and order AS5, and apply as5 when ya get it. Just make sure that your HSF has sufficient CFM.
