CPU to hot?

Hey guys I have a X2 5200 (2.6ghz) and its running @ 40-55C (40 when doing internet and what not, 50+ when gaming) I have it set to warn me when it gets up to 60C. This seems to be really really hot though. I'm using the stock fan and heatsink that came with it with some Artic Silver 5.

How hot becomes too hot? I'm afraid to play games because the fan begins to spin faster and get pretty loud and SpeedFan is reading (flame symbol) 52C. What is the treshold before CPUS just burn out? I'm thinking of ordering a good CPU fan from Newegg for this AM2 Socket chip. Any ideas?

you are fine. mine is in similar temp as you are because I overclocked and weather is bad, but it runs fine. get zalmann or watercooling if worried.

Thanks do you guys know of a benchmark I can run to see it under stress, I wanna get some numbers of how hot it gets when its running intensively.

I have about 50$ budget for CPU Fan. If you can recommend one for <= that price that would be great. Pref from Newegg cause I get items in 1-2 days :)

Thats about what my 5600+ was running at stock speeds, i went ahead and bought the Zalman 9500 cooler and now i idle at 28*c and 100% load it will go about 42*c (Thats OC to 3.33)..those temps i would said are "ok" as others told me but anything over 55*c i would let off

Edit: its the one chupacabra linked

You can run this:

http://sp2004.fre3.com/

It will run both cores at 100% to see how hot it gets. It's basically Prime95, but with a better interface. I'm going through this same thing on my new rig. Mine got to the upper 60's using this test! So I've ordered a new cooler. In games it would reach the upper 50's as far as I could tell.

You are fine as long as none of them reach 60, but I gota to keep eye on my video card which keep reaching 63 C to 66 C.
