CPU to video card ratio

I heard that you can have a great video card but if your cpu is lacking it wont be used to its full capacity and the same if u have a high cpu and a crap video card.

i was wondering wat the average cpu to video card ratio is

like 3ghz cpu = 1gig vid card

does ram come in effect too?
 
The GDDR RAM is not the major factor for the speed of video card.
I have no idea what you are talking about.

What video card/ cpu to pick solely depends on your budget and the applications to run.

What your saying is true to a point, other then the 3ghz. CPU to 1gb. card part (cant match them up like that)

Say if you have a old single core Athlon 64, it would be pointless to install something like a GTX 295.

The other way around is not necessarily true. You can have the best Quad core made and only get a Video card that fits your needs.
 
I see what ur saying, you can have a well balanced multimedia pc and a well balanced budget or performance gaming system but there is no chart or anything I think its common sence really?
 
Also, an 896MB GTX260 is quite faster than a 1GB 9800GT ... it all depends on the actual video card you're using - not how much memory it has on it. That's just an example... the more memory on a graphics card only lets it run large textures a little bit more smoothly... Not make it "a faster card cuz' it's got more memory on it"...
Generally, this would be much easier and answer your question a lot easier (and more exact) if we knew either which CPU or which GPU you have or are getting, then we can tell you a good CPU/GPU match for it.
