CPU upgrading question

I'm thinking about upgrading my 1.6GHz to 2.6GHz. Would I notice a difference with the upgrade? Would I need a better CPU Fan or could I use my stock one?

yes that quite a difference, and you will notice it assuming you are doing any remotely intensive task, i.e not just surfing and emailing
as for the hsf/fan stock will be fine unless you intend on overclocking.
 
ok thanks. Yes, I do alot of multitasking on my PC. Burning CDs while BitDenfender is scanning. Things like that. And no I don't really plan on overclocking.

no don't upgrade your cpu yet.

you will not going to find it too good...
since people already have much better cpus.. well depends on how much you are spending though.\
if less than $60 go for it. if more, wait for the next generation.~

i mean instead of geting your computer upgraded, like your sig said

might as well save up some more money and buy yourself a nice brand new comuter!!!
 
Go for it

i'd say that that is a pretty big peformance gain and go ahead and buy it if its a reasonable price. then while your enjoying your performance gains save for a big time upgrade. Oh yeah you should be fine with stock cooler.

yea for multitasking id just build a new rig... spend say... $7-800 :) use the same monitor if its not a piece of ****

get dual core too! i find it to be quite convenient :)
 
Ok first....I don't have $800 to build a dual core rig. My limit is at the max around $200. $300 pushin it. I'm a 16 year old w/o a job. Come on.
 
haha im 17, i was 16 when i built my first comp and it was faster than a 2.6ghz P4... its was probably about as fast as a 3.4ghz P4
but yea id say go with like... a 939 mobo and an athlon 64 3000+ or a P4 with hyperthreading preferably 3ghz or higher

did u have a good job??;) jeez hopefully when i pay off my car and i can do all this:D
that is when i get a car LOL i am 15 this summer i am a funny guy just lookin when pcs (personal computer) are obsolute and we have spc (super personal compuer)
