CPU usage 100% and a Beeping noise to acompany it...

Okay my computer has recently developed a problem...

When i'm playing thegame Starcraft-Broodwar for about 10 minutes it decides to get angry with me and start beeping. and it says my cpu usage is 100 percent.

i minimize the game and the beeping stops.

then i open it up again and play for about 30 more seconds and it beeps again.

i recently added some ram (but i tried taking that out and it didn't change anything) and a harddrive (that shouldn't be affecting it since the game's not even on that drive)

i dont know what to do. i just formatted and the problem persists.

any idea :(((

i've had this computer for a few years and SC is not a big game.

(as for other games like WC3 or Counter-Strike it usually runs fine. but every once in a while i get the beeping but after a restart those usually work)

okay so i finally solved my problem!@!!@!@!@!@

the problem was my heatsync was prettymuch covered in dust...SO i just:

-took the fan off.
-vaccumed the dust off.
-used a cotten swab to swab some remaining dust off.
-vaccumed it again...off.

Yeah, not a good idea to hoover your computer man. You should really take the time to take it apart and clean it properly.

using compressed air not only spreads the dust around within the tower but since i was dealing with the heat sync it would push the dust further in.

what i did was i carefully used it to suck the dust off and i didn't even come incontact with the hardware.

lol wow i cant believe we';re having this conversation.

but

a vaccum generates loads of static electricity. you're absolutely correct. when you vaccum a carpet the bristles spin against it this creating static. BUT if you're just using a plastic suction hose and your bristles aren't spinning you're good.


and gogey the only way to blow something "out" is if you blow from behind it.

last time i checked my processor and heatsync dont have holes.

You came here asking a question (Posting in multiple Folders, I might add...), to which you supplied your own answer, to which others cautioned you about the inherent danger of your 'solution'. Believe whatever you want to and use whatever warped logic you desire, but using a vacuum to clean a computer carries an inherent risk of causing some very bad mojo, regardless of what you may think.

Actually, gogey is 100% correct. You fail. Also, are you saying you have a solid block of metal sitting on top of your CPU? :confused: I find that highly unlikely.

For someone with only 7 Posts under their belt, Posting some of the responses you have thus far won't be earning you any friends, and most like not any future help with any problems. In any case, FWIW, welcome to CF...

i followed up on my post just incase somebody had the same problem.
