CPU usage

I'm having an issue that I can't resolve. Task manager shows CPU usage ~60-80% at idle; and System Idle Process is 95-99%. This doesn't even make sense mathematically, anyone know how to fix this?

usually when the System Idle process is really high on my compuiters, i click on system idle process, the click end process, it doesnt end the process, but somehow it drops the cpu usage alot..

The idle process is just a nothing thing really, you'd be better off to just ignore it.

Ok, I am on to something here.....I keep hearing the XP "remove hardware" sound, so I checked my pci slots.....after pushing on them to make sure they were in their slots, my PC froze....I reset it and now the CPU usage reading is correct:0-7% at idle.

my opinion is, i think Microsoft should have never put the system idle process in Windows...then u would be able 2 come back 2 the computer after a day, and it will not be all slow and crap..
