CPU usages & responsiveness

I've just bought my new laptop approximately 2 weeks ago,
normally it runs pretty good when I'm just browsing web pages and doing my homeworks.

However, when I start running games the CPU somehow gets stuned everytime.

For instance, when I run mine sweeper, CPU usages increases dramatically(95~100%) and CPU responsiveness falls(~=55%) and stunes there for minutes.

Things like that happens all the time, and my laptop power setting is on high performance.

So, does any know what is going on and what's wrong with my laptop?
I'd appreciate for your help, the following is my laptop's basic info.
==========
Brand: ASUS N80V
CPU : Intel Duo T5800 (dual core, 2.0GHz)
RAM : 4GB
Video Card: GeForce 9650 GT
VRAM: 1GN
HDD : 320GB

Check your task manager to see whats all running. Do a virus and spyware check. Other than that it's vista. When I was running Vista it would do that all the time and I run regular checks on my laptop. My recomendation is windows 7 Beta, runs so much smoother and you can download it online.

While Vista is a resource hog, with his specifications it shouldn't be a hardware issue from that standpoint.

I just remember having the same issue on my Dell from day one, And his cpu isn't much more powerful then the Dell Inspiron 1501 I had. I like vista but it doesn't handle running programs efficiently.

I've given virus scanning a shot but no virus found. SO, I suppose that's not issue with virus.

I know vista is a resource hog, but I still can't understand how it lags for running mine sweeper.....

Thanks alot for your help!

I can understand the lag. That minesweeper is up there, one of the more advanced games on the market. ;)

But seriously, it's odd that it would freak out like that on certain programs. One thing you can try is heading to this site and see what sort of programs your computer is lanching on startup. It could be that something that's loading is causing the issue.

you can also try booting in safe mode, and see what's causing the issue.

If the laptop is brand new, it's probably still covered under warranty. Take it in and make it their problem. Most computer companies will give you an in-town location to drop your laptop off at that day.
