cpu-z reads my e6300 multi at x6 whereas in BIOS its x7...Help...

As in above, in BIOS my e6300 multiplier is set at x7, but on cpu-z and PC Wizard its only reading at x6. I'm rather new with overclocking, any help please?

Do you have SpeedStep enabled in the BIOS? That may lower the multi to save power. I would turn it off in the BIOS and set the multi to 7x.

EDIT: I see it is enabled, so disable it.

I couldn't find SpeedStep in the BIOS :confused:

You really don't have to turn it off.. It's just a power saver. Check Cpu-z while your sys is running a game or something.. if it's back to 7 then speedstep is working properly and doesn't needa be screwed with. :)

(If speedstep interferes in any way with ocing or something else diregard this. i don't know just basing my statement off cool and quiet, amd's equivalent.)

I just tested it out with Company of Heros at max settings and it went back to x7. Now I understand how this thingy works. Thanks! :D
 
You need to disable the C1£ and Thermal temp settings in the BIOS. I'll post back later telling you which options to change. Just basically 2 or 3 settings which control the speed of your CPU when it doesn't have to do anything stressful. :)
