No, I,ve installed alot of them with 2000/XP/Vista and never had a problem. Never heard of that.

Ive been looking at the nvidea 8800gt but heard it had problems running on xp is this true?

no, thats just what fanboys who dont understand say - basically the geforce 8 and 9 series are directx10 cards, and only vista supports directx10. However, they will still work fine on xp, as they will use directx9 instead. No card can do directx10 on xp. Its not possible. You need vista for that, but dont worry about upgrading just yet as there are few dx10 games, and virtually all will fall back to directx9, if you dont have 10 capacility.
