crash then insert a bootable CD error...

So i have ben getting this message after my computer crashes that says, insert a bootable CD after my PC crashes. I just unplug the hard drive and plug it in again and it works. Just getting kind of annoying, any suggestions?

Why is the computer crashing to begin with? That's not "normal" behavior... even for a Microsoft OS :P Please tell us what happens before the crash - or is it just completely random?

I would suggest that once you get up and running, you download disk diagnostic tools from your drive manufacturer and scan for errors on the HDD.
 
basically the programs freeze almost one by one, then after about 2 minutes of waiting for everything to come back on it just shuts down, restarts, and gives me the "insert bootable CD into drive" thing
 
I fear that there is something wrong with your Operating System or hard drive. When it's prompting to insert a bootable CD, based on experience, it could be a hard drive or an OS problem. Have you checked your BIOS settings if your hard drive is still detected? You can also try to do an OS repair and see if it works.
 
Yea my hard drive is detected I believe So is there any way to repair what it might be wrong with my OS without swiping my HDD?
 
How long has this been going on? Did it start suddenly, or start small, gradually becoming worse? What's the make/model of your system and your OS? Is it the one in your signature?

This could be a hardware or software issue - it's kind of hard to say at this point. Is this a new build or an old computer?

You may need to repair your installation - perhaps that's why it's prompting you for a CD?

Give us some more information about the history of this computer so that we may better assist you.
