Crashed hard drive, need to recover data externally

Hello all. I have a laptop and my hard drive recently crashed. Dell sent me another hard drive which I now have in the laptop, and the old one is sitting here beside me. I would like to plug it into the USB port as an external hard drive and try to transfer what files I could if that would work. Only thing is that I don't know where to get a cord or what kind of cord I'd need to hook it up. The hard drive is a WD2500BEVS made by Western Digital, if that helps.

You can use a laptop hard drive enclosure which comes with a usb connection.

That one is for ide hard drives fyi, so check whether your laptop hard drive is either sata or ide first.
